What is your latest zombie release?

My latest zombie release is Dead Hunger VIII: Peace, Love & Zombies, starring the always stoned, Nelson Moore.

Cemetery Dance 74 Back Cover Ad (1)

Quick description of it (no spoilers)

It’s book 8 of my Dead Hunger series, and this book chronicles the outset of the apocalypse that begins in June of 2011 and cruises through 8 novels (so far) to end up in 2028.  Yeah.  It’s freakin’ epic.  Nelson is a stoner, but he’s also pretty damned deep.  He’s an environmentalist in a world of rotting zombies; he can’t put away the scooter because it doesn’t pollute, and he is a pacifist, so he invented his own form of martial arts called “Subdudo.”  This is a method of subduing his opponents using a form of Judo, but it doesn’t hurt them.  Oh, he can turn it around and make it painful if he wants, but … that’s not Nel.  He doesn’t confuse zombies with living people though.  He’ll kick the shit outta them.    Anyway, it’s his journey from New York City to Concord, New Hampshire – with a slight detour along the way to help out some new and old friends.

Something unique about it.

Jeez.  Didn’t I just spell that out for you?   It might be harder for me to tell you something that isn’t unique about it.

Your short Bio.

Eric lives in southwest Florida with his wife of thirty years, Linda.  He’s been writing since his teens, and published his first book in 1999.   He wrote his first novel in 2000 and shelved it.  Then he began a second and got confused and quit halfway in.   Then he went into a writer’s coma for a dozen years before becoming excited about the zombie genre and deciding to pen the first Dead Hunger.   Seven more followed, with one more to go.   In the middle of all that, he wrote Shifting Fears, The Camera: Bloodthirst, he found, fixed and released A Reason To Kill, found and finished Generation Evil, and he’s contributed stories to ATZ: The Gathering Horde, Middletown Apocalypse and Z Resurrected.   He’s now working on his latest, entitled Scabs: The Gemini Exception.   Find him on Facebook and friend him or like his author page – if he ever meets you, he’ll give you a big hug.  If you’re a man, he’ll man hug you.  No worries.   Seriously.   😉

Something unique about it.

Detail orientated the technical accuracy is high; however, a new facility born of a possible conspiracy theory that I extensively researched is born.  A conspiracy theory that no one has heard of and something that will make you pause, wondering if it could really be true.

What is your latest zombie release?

Should be ‘A Shrouded World 2: Atlantis’ depending on the timing, or maybe Riley V: The Final Path Home of Zombie Fallout 8 – An Old Beginning if neither of the other two has come out yet!

 ZF1 (1)

Quick description of it (no spoilers)

For the sake of this question I will say that ASW2: Atlantis has come out. This is my second collaborative effort with my buddy John O’Brien this one going much smoother than the first I think because we oiled the gears with copious amounts of alcohol for this go around. HEY I’m a writer I’m supposed to drink, it says so in the Author’s Handbook 5th edition. This continues the tale of Jack, Mike and Trip as they travel through a hostile environment each having been ripped from their respective worlds and thrust into a hellish apocalypse where not only zombies run free but also night runners and the terrifying Whistlers.

Something unique about it.

Two authors, three hording monsters that’s fairly unique!

Your short Bio.

Hi my name is Mark Tufo and this is my small bio slash zombie homage. First off trying to boil your life down to a few paragraphs is like trying to get out of the house with a newborn in under 5 minutes. Those of you with kids will understand the reference. Speaking of which I have three, thankfully they are mostly grown at this point which has allowed me to pursue a writing career. I grew up a blue collar man in a blue collar family, after a stint in the Marines and then the more dangerous Post Office, I decided to educate myself and get one of those cushy white collar jobs. Well I got a few, damned thing was though I couldn’t hold on to them. Kept getting laid off. It was during these down times that I began to write, it was a way to cope with the stress of having a family that was becoming more and more difficult to support.

My wife and I put out the first Zombie Fallout book in February of 09, there was huge fan-fare, ticker tape parades and maybe even some hyperventilating from the one fan that bought the book that month. Didn’t matter much that wasn’t why I had written it in the first place. I wrote a zombie book because I’ve always been fascinated with the genre. Ever since I was 7 years old and my cousin who was babysitting thought watching Night of the Living Dead would be a good way to while away the time. I’d never been so scared and enthralled at the same time in my entire life. I devoured all things zombies, movies, books, comics. Didn’t matter much. And then during one of my lay-off periods, my wife dared me to write one. (Mostly so I’d leave her alone) And I haven’t looked back.

The Zombie Fallout series is 8 novels and 1 novella long, with Zombie Fallout 9 due in October. I have the Timothy series which is written through the eyes of a zombie (not for the faint of heart – and don’t eat and read it – you’ve been warned). And there is also the continuing saga of The Book of Riley, a zombie tale told through the eyes of Riley an American Bulldog. I don’t always write about the quasi-dead, but they’re never far from my brain! (Horrible pun but fitting – Thank you for taking a few moments to learn a little about me)

What is your latest zombie release?

THE DEAD WON’T DIE: Book 2 in my Deadlands Series, which started with last year’s PLAGUE OF THE UNDEAD

 The Dead Won't Die

Quick description of it (no spoilers):

Jacob Carlton, Kelly Banis and Chelsea Walker are all that’s left of the slaves who escaped the Caravan at the end of Plague of the Undead.  Now, rescued by the Templenauts, they find themselves caught up in a conspiracy they don’t understand, and are powerless to resist.  But Jacob is best with his back up against the wall, and with his options dwindling fast, he leads his friends into heart of Temple’s society, where he confronts not only a world of corruption and greed, but a zombie army one hundred million strong.  In order to survive, the trio will have to do what they do best: fight!

Something unique about it.

The Dead Won’t Die takes place thirty years after the initial zombie apocalypse, and combines elements of Huxley’s Brave New World and Haggard’s King Solomon’s Mines.  It’s high adventure, with a peppering of social commentary about the policing in modern day America.

Changes, a GIRL Z Prequel short story

GIRL Z: My Life as a Teenage Zombie

 girlz-mylifeasateenagezombie-1

Quick description of it (no spoilers)

In GIRL Z: My Life as a Teenage Zombie, Becca’s life is changed forever when her cousin comes home and infects her with the Z virus via a scratch.

In Changes, A GIRL Z Prequel story, Spence’s “perfect” job is anything but. He escapes a living dead nightmare when his co-workers turn into flesh-eating monsters. As the plague spreads, follow Spence on his return home to see his family one last time… if he can make it.

This is a short story prequel to the book, GIRL Z: My Life as a Teenage Zombie.

Something unique about it.

In GIRL Z: My Life as a Teenage Zombie, I wanted to show a zombie outbreak from the viewpoint of a teenage girl, with touches of humor and teenage angst.

In Changes, I wanted to show another viewpoint, this time from someone who is turning zombie.

Contain (BUNKER 12 series)

 COVER.300

Quick description of it (no spoilers)

Requiring no more than the slightest skin-to-skin contact, the Flense has spread with ruthless speed and stealth, decimating mankind before it can even react to the threat. The infected become terrifying soulless creatures known as Wraiths, which wreak destruction upon anyone and anything standing in their path.

Quarantined within ten isolated bunkers are mankind’s last survivors, all working desperately to unravel the mystery of the scourge, including Finnian Bolles, whose home for the past three years has been the sprawling hydroelectric complex known as Bunker 8. But the structures were never meant to protect forever. In fact, when a stranger suddenly appears outside their door and delivers a cryptic message, it seems they were never meant to protect at all. The secret to their salvation now requires them to leave their sanctuary and find a mythical twelfth bunker they know nothing about.

Something unique about it.

From a thematic perspective, the series delves into that gray area between the biological and the metaphysical realms of consciousness, but does so with a modern technological twist, making this a wholly new kind of zombie story. Many of the classic monster tropes are still present and easily recognizable, but the basis for the scourge will hopefully be one the reader has never seen before. Structurally, a second companion series called The Flense, will be published concurrently and will follow the events preceding the apocalypse.
